Emanuel Goldberg and His Knowlwdge Machine, a new book by Michael Buckland, was published early this year by Libraries Unlimited. The book tells the story of Goldberg, a chemist, inventor and industrialist, who was also instrumental in almost every aspect of imaging technology in the first half of the 20th century.
Michael Buckland is an Emeritus Professor in the School of Information and Co-Director of the Electronic Cultural Atlas Initiative at UC Berkeley. A former Dean of the School of Library and Information Studies at UC Berkeley and President of the American Society for Information Science, he holds degrees in History from Oxford and Librarianship from Sheffield University.
