Application Fee Waivers

Berkeley Graduate Division and the School of Information are pleased to offer application fee waivers to eligible applicants.

There are three ways in which you may qualify for an application fee waiver:

  1. You can demonstrate financial need, or
  2. You serve(d) in the U.S. military, or
  3. You have participated in certain programs that qualify for a fee waiver.

Fee Waiver Eligibility

Financial Need

Please refer to the Berkeley Graduate Division fee waiver page to request a financial need application fee waiver.

U.S. Military & Veterans

U.S. military service members (active duty, reserves, National Guard, and veterans) are eligible to receive an application fee waiver.

Please be sure to request a waiver before submitting your application. We cannot issue fee waivers retroactively for applications that have already been paid for and submitted.

Program Participation

Applicants who have participated in select programs are eligible to receive an application fee waiver from Berkeley Graduate Division or the School of Information.

Important: Prior to checking the School of Information’s eligible program participation list below, please refer to the Berkeley Graduate Division’s program list. If your program is listed on Berkeley Graduate Division’s page, please follow their application fee waiver instructions.

If you are a participant of a program not listed by Berkeley Graduate Division, see below for the School of Information’s program list. Please be sure to request a waiver before submitting your application. We cannot issue fee waivers retroactively for applications that have already been paid for and submitted.

If you are a participant of a program not included on either list, and whose mission explicitly aligns with our diversity mission, you may request a waiver by including program details in the appropriate section of the fee waiver request form.
