Faculty Profile
Professor Kimiko Ryokai's field of research is tangible embodied computing, a subfield of human-computer interaction (HCI). She studies representation, physicality, and interactivity of personal data and information systems, particularly in the context of mental health, social networks, and educational applications.
Community Panel
Juliana Gomez is a current MIDS student and an industry leader in educational consulting. Juliana has a master's degree in biological sciences with 10 years of experience in data science. Expertise in data-driven solutions in the education sector; data processing and visualization, machine learning algorithms, and programming languages, including R and Python. Fluent in multiple languages (Spanish, English, Italian, French). Creative problem solver, good listener, and open to new challenges.
Hayford Atim is a current MIMS student and a data enthusiast with a relentless drive to unravel the potential hidden within complex data. Hayford thrives on employing analytical techniques to convert data into actionable insights. Fueled by creativity and a resolute focus on results, Hayford is dedicated to forging a vibrant career in data science. Eager to contribute his skills, share his data-driven journey, and drive innovation alongside like-minded professionals. Also, as an SAP consultant with extensive experience in implementing projects across diverse industries such as oil and gas, utilities, banking, and textiles. She is a detail-oriented and customer-centric professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality results.
Chase Stokes is a current Ph.D. student whose research primarily lies at the crossroads of language and visual data representation. Chase aims to equip designers with insights and recommendations that leverage text as an essential tool for effective visual data communication. Chase received his B.A. in Psychology & Gender Studies from Northwestern University, advised by Steve Franconeri and Cindy Bearfield (now at Georgia Tech).
Harim Lee is a current MIMS student focusing on Data Science and Machine Learning. Harim is interested in using data to refine and enhance products, ensuring they better meet the needs and expectations of their users. Harim is also passionate about applying data science to support developing economies and underrepresented communities, aiming to create impactful solutions that foster growth and inclusion.
Vijay Kumar is a current MIMS student who is passionate about Software Engineering, Finance, and Sustainability. He is motivated by his long-term goal to give back to his community by making high-quality education more accessible to students from low-income families.
