Representatives from twenty different employers crowded into South Hall last week to recruit I School students for jobs and internships.
“There were a lot of great companies,” said first-year student Brendan Curran. “I was really interested in the opportunities at Amyris; they are focused on sustainable energy sources and also develop anti-malarial medications. This is exactly the kind of company I was looking for, and here they were at the career fair.”
First-year student Emily Barabas came to the career fair looking for summer internships in usability and user experience. “I enjoyed talking to the people from Zappos; they had some exciting opportunities,” she said. “I also chatted with the recruiter from Oracle, who is hoping to orgazine a tour of their usability research facility for us.”
Companies at the career fair included:
- AT&T Interactive
- Chevron
- Dow
- Kaiser Permanente
- Oracle
- Salesforce
- Zappos
- ...and others.
The career fair was also a mini alumni reunion, with several companies represented by I School alumni: Ben Cohen (MIMS ’10) of Salesforce, Michael Lissner (MIMS ’10) of Recommind, Karen Nomorosa (MIMS ’10) of Rearden Commerce, Laura Paajanen (MIMS ’10) of ModCloth, Annete Grenier (MIMS ’10) and Stephen Chan (MIMS ’06) of LBNL's Energy Sciences Network, Anya Kartavenko (MIMS ’07) of Kaiser Permanente, and James Reffell (MIMS ’02) of Webroot.
Another career fair is scheduled for spring 2011; interested employers should contact Shirley Salanio at (510) 642-9242 or shirley@ischool.berkeley.edu.
