The School of Information congratulates the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic (at the UC Berkeley School of Law) on its tenth anniversary.
The Samuelson Clinic opened in January 2001 under the leadership of Deirdre K. Mulligan, now an assistant professor at the I School. As the first clinical program of its kind, the Samuelson Clinic was in the avant-garde of both technology and intellectual property policy and clinical education. Today, it is the leading example in a growing movement of clinics that teach law students through doing, and through doing good, in the areas of intellectual property, technology, and civil liberties in a technology-based world. The clinic regularly welcomes I School students to work with law students to solve technology policy problems through interdisciplinary collaboration.
The clinic will mark its anniversary with a celebration at Berkeley’s Bancroft Hotel on Friday, April 1, 2011.
The celebration will welcome Samuelson Clinic alumni, clients, and friends back to Berkeley for a day of policy discussions, reflection, and a celebration of the many contributions Samuelson Clinic alumni are making to the practice of law and to the public’s interest in technology law policy.
The celebration will feature a number of I School faculty, students, and alumni who have worked with the clinic over the past decade. Featured speakers include I School alumni Joseph Hall (Ph.D. 2008) and Nathan Good (Ph.D. 2009), doctoral student Jennifer King (MIMS 2006), assistant professor and clinic alumnus Brian Carver, assistant professor and former clinic director Deirdre Mulligan, adjunct professor Robert Glushko, and professor Pamela Samuelson.
Space is still available to register for the anniversary celebration.
