Biography
I think the smart city will be effective only if its technological infrastructure interfaces seamlessly with its residents' physical space. Having practiced as an architect, think tank consultant, university faculty, and startup strategist, I see the tendency of design and technology heading in different tangents, but neither one can create an effective urban interface on its own. Our interface with data technology should really extend from framed screens to material, scale, space, and orientation -- dimensions we actually live in, touch and feel. With my background and current pursuit of data science, I see myself as an agent who connects the dots between the increasingly separated spheres of architectural/urban design and technology.
