Biography
I was most recently Chief Marketing Officer for Extended Stay America, Inc. (NYSE:STAY) in Charlotte for 4½ years to September 2016. Extended Stay America is the largest owner/operator of company branded hotels in North America, with 629 hotels in the US and Canada, comprising approximately 68,000 guest rooms and with nearly 10,000 associates.
Before ESA, I spent 4 years based in London as CMO for IHG plc (LON:IHG), one of the world’s largest hotel companies, parent of Holiday Inn, and InterContinental among other brands. At IHG I was responsible for all sales and marketing activity worldwide and for developing guest experience and brand strategy.
I was also CEO of the Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust in CT, the arms length entity running all Subway’s marketing spend around the world.
Prior to that I spent 12 years working in Atlanta for IHG’s predecessor companies, in various brand management, sales, and revenue areas.
I worked in Europe and the USA for S.P.A. (now Oliver Wyman) as a strategy consultant .
I have a B.Sc and an M.Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, and began my career working on radio systems with Motorola in the UK.
