Biography

My focus is on understanding and enabling people to grow, learn, and be more effective, whether teaching a new skill, building a dynamic team, or fostering a nurturing community. I currently focus on junior software engineer development: how to enable developers early in their careers to become solid and experienced engineers more readily in less time.

I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University in 2007, with a concentration in Computer Systems and Software. In 2013, I received my Master's in Information Management and Systems from our very own Information School at UC Berkeley. I have held several software engineering tools in academic, government, and tech roles, from building scalable systems for the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, scaling the then-nascent DNA ethnicity and heritage product at Ancestry, and creating advertising interfaces at Pinterest.

I am an engineering manager at Pinterest and a continuing lecturer at the School of Information at Berkeley. I also create content that improves and hones the craft of software engineers, specifically those with less than three years of experience.
