MIMS Final Project 2013

Online Social Groups Redesign

Advisor

Today’s social networks are poor at forming and maintaining group interaction. Group organization systems do not capture social groups well, conversations get buried, and it takes too much effort to start a meaningful conversations. By identifying a user’s most important groups, reducing barriers to richer interaction, and leveraging availability as a trigger, we hope to increase the amount of group interaction and bring people closer together.

We will conduct interviews on how people interact with groups they consider important, build and test prototypes, and come up with a final writeup. Our final deliverable will include a prototype that shows how Facebook's existing chat platform could be modified to better enable group interactions.
