The Power of Wet Lab Data in ML-Driven Antibody Design

Emily Delaney, Senior Platform Scientist

Developing new therapeutic drugs is a transformative but arduous, expensive process, often with a low success rate (~10%). Recent advances in AI/ML have unlocked the potential to simultaneously optimize multiple desirable drug properties, revolutionizing how we identify the next life-saving therapeutic. However, the rise of AI/ML has increased the importance of high-quality, reproducible wet lab data — a model is only as good as the data it is built upon! I will present examples of how BigHat Biosciences has leveraged its integrated design-build-test loop to design therapeutic antibodies, as well as some lessons learned on how to best generate wet lab data to support AI/ML.
