Freelance UX Designer (A3 Ventures)

A3 Ventures needs the help of a mid-to-senior level Freelance UX Designer.  

We have an immediate need starting with 40 hours of work per week, over two months.  If it goes well this will likely expand into ongoing work with the possibility of a full-time position. 

Needs include:

– Collaboratively creating and conveying product, service and marketing designs

– Working with testing partners to evaluate designs and hypotheses with customers

– Synthesizing and evolving designs based on those learnings, and 

– Helping developers bring the designs into reality. 

Requirements:

– Well versed in the fundamentals and best practices of user centered design.

– Adept at workshopping, documenting, evolving and conveying customer journeys and designs with user story maps, scenarios, sketches, storyboards, whiteboards, post-it notes, mockups, wireframes, high-resolution comps, flow diagrams, prototypes.

– Experienced in responsive and mobile design best practices, including Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design. 

– Able to work onsite using your own laptop in downtown Berkeley, California.

– Experience working in an Agile/Lean startup environment with a focus on ongoing research and testing of prototypes and hypotheses.  Experience with design sprints.

– Fluent user of Sketch (sketchapp.com) who has used Sketch for at least three previous projects

– Strong collaborator, proficient advocating for user centered design, and working with:

– Business stakeholders.

– Product design researchers (in both quantitative and qualitative testing).

– Developers who implement your designs.

– Marketing professionals.

– Visual designers.

– Customers.

Preferred:

– Experience running and synthesizing results from small user tests

– Bachelor's Degree (or higher) with a focus in Design, HCI, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

– More than three years of professional experience as a UX designer.

– A sense of humor and a driving need to make the world a better plac
