Reference

All applications must be supported by at least one academic reference. This should usually be provided by a dissertation supervisor, but we can also accept references from other faculty with close knowledge of your work.

Please ask your reference to email their letter of support to sdp@ischool.berkeley.edu.

 The letter should address the following questions:

  • Whether and why you think this student would benefit from attending this summer program;
  • How you feel the student would fare in an international, interdisciplinary environment that depends on openness to intellectual exploration and collegial feedback;
  • How you would describe the quality and potential of their academic work;
  • Whether you would also support an application for scholarship support (and your reasoning).

Please also enter the details of your reference below, so that we can contact them if we do not receive the letter in good time.
