Overview:
The Coordinator, Digital Initiatives, Global Information Services is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of Global IS systems (source catalog/database, request management system, intranet), granting system access to and supporting IS researchers across all regions, troubleshooting access issues to global IS resources for all Bain employees, and developing documentation for system maintenance and workflow processes with the guidance of the Senior Specialist, Digital Initiatives. The IS department is currently undergoing a major systems overhaul to improve the way our systems work together to support end users. This is a temporary 6-month assignment with possibility of becoming permanent after this initial period.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Maintains the current state of global IS systems:
- Manages accounts and permissions for SharePoint intranet, illumin request management system, and in-house source catalog/database
- Responsible for monitoring and testing vendor software upgrades before changes move to live production
Troubleshoots access issues and delivers direct support:
- Supports the IS team by resolving database/software access issues in real-time
- Troubleshoots technical issues and consults with IT and vendor technical support to implement solutions
- Monitors and troubleshoots existing authentication (IP, SSO, and referral URL) with vendors
- Assists in implementation of new Single-Sign On set up between IT and IS vendors
Assists with system improvements:
- Implements data clean-up and assists in data migration projects
- Makes recommendations for document storage and workflow procedure improvements
- Assists in the evaluation of new potential vendor SaaS products
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Science or a related degree
- 2 + years of related experience
- Work experience on a remote IT helpdesk or a virtual library reference desk preferred
- Aptitude for analytical problem resolution
- Strong customer-service focused
- Experience organizing and maintaining an intranet, SharePoint preferred
- Enthusiasm for identifying integration points into existing infrastructure to increase interoperability
- Strong understanding of the role of metadata in digital storage and retrieval
- Self-motivated
