The Financial Planning & Analysis Office (FP&A) reports to the UC Berkeley Office of the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (VC-OCFO) and supports the University’s mission by promoting an environment of financial integrity, enabling optimal use of UC Berkeley’s $3 billion operating budget, and facilitating informed decision-making.
Reporting to the Director of Central Resource Management, the Financial Analyst will support the planning, management and allocation of over $1.4B in central resources to campus Divisions. Central resource administration includes central ledger management, analysis/modelling and projects, and budget operations. Collaboration will be essential. The Financial Analyst will need to cultivate partnerships within the Office of the Controller and the broader VCF-OCFO organization.
The Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A will:
- Work with the Director of Central Resource Management, Director and Executive Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to perform highly complex financial analysis projects with minimal supervision. Apply advanced professional concepts to perform complex technical analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations for the Central Campus Budget/Ledger.
- Direct, initiate, design and provide analytical studies, summary reports and background materials for campus or department administrative officers and managers for financial and/or resource plans, including annual resource allocation approaches, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, sources and uses, et cetera, that have a significant impact on individual or multiple departments.
- Perform highly complex financial or resource research and studies for both internal department and external campus constituents. Provide technical and operational process support to the Financial Planning & Analysis team to ensure optimal Central Budget/Ledger management by researching and answering questions related to the chart of accounts, fund choice, commitments, recurring campus-wide distributions, deficit resolution and fiscal close procedures.
- May be assigned to support analytical projects for other Vice Chancellors as needed.
