Overview:
Platinum Performance is a premier Animal Health company founded in 1996 out of an equine veterinary hospital on the Central Coast of California. Today, Platinum Performance serves most equine veterinary practices across the United States and abroad. The company was founded on the belief that wellness and nutrition are the foundation of exceptional health for both people and the animals we love. Over the last two and a half years we have built a small software development team based in San Francisco. Our team is focused on bringing predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory (P4) medicine and therapeutic nutrition to equine veterinary medicine. Our first project was the largest Equine Gut Microbiome data collection to date.
Your team:
As a small “startup” within a larger established organization, we have the advantage of a fast paced, nimble team with the stability and security of an organization that is a leading brand in the equine industry. We are a small SF based team of Software Developers, a Lead UX Designer, and a Technical Product lead. We are just over two and a half years old and we come from a pedigree of tech excellence and set the hiring bar high. This is an opportunity to work with a passionate team that is working on something meaningful and impactful.
What you will be working on:
n addition to internal client experience tools and current client software, we are building a software platform to help doctors, veterinarians, and academic researchers advance the field of predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory medicine and nutrition. As the engineering lead of the software team, you will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, and infrastructure of these tools. You will provide guidance and foster technical growth of the developers on the team, as well as continue to build the team by helping to hire a few additional developers.
What you’ll do:
- Work cross-functionally with Product, UX Design, and Client Service team members to lead development initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the head of product and directly with the CEO to understand and give feedback on the roadmap.
- Architect solutions to technical problems in collaboration with the developers who will build them.
- Cultivate technical growth and learning of the development team members.
- Maintain server infrastructure and site uptime and reliability.
- Provide high quality feedback on development work through code reviews.
- Implement high quality full stack solutions.
- Work in close collaboration with Product and Leadership to inform and improve development processes.
- Interview new Development team members and actively inform our software development hiring process.
- Work well with an ego-free, growth mindset, highly collaborative, and cross-functional team
- Have an attitude that inspires and motivates, embracing challenges and new ways of thinking
- You must be willing to commute to our office in the Dogpatch neighborhood in San Francisco
What you should have:
- 7+ years of full stack development, with significant amount of Ruby on Rails Experience
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment.
- Experience partnering with Product Managers and UX Designers to develop the strategy and rationale for features.
- Experience leading and mentoring a dev team.
- Experience maintaining a full stack rails site, it’s infrastructure, and architectural vision.
- Experience with frontend technologies including JavaScript (ES6 / React / Redux / Apollo / Webpack)
- Experience with GraphQL, Postgres, Docker, redis, elasticsearch
- Deep experience configuring and maintaining infrastructure in AWS
- Experience building responsive web applications with frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation
- Favor releasing early and often
- Experience working in Sprints using Agile methods.
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Experience owning features from concept phase to deployment.
