Description
Urban Displacement Project (UDP) is seeking a Front-end Developer / Data Visualization Specialist to develop new interactive web maps, data visualizations, as well as to maintain and update our existing tools.
Responsibilities:
The Urban Displacement project is widely known for its interactive web maps illustrating patterns of neighborhoods at risk of and undergoing gentrification and displacement. These maps act as powerful tools to empower advocates, policymakers, and cities in working towards more equitable and inclusive cities. As we expand this work in geography and scope, we are building our capacity to develop new data visualizations while maintaining and updating our existing tools. The Data Visualization Specialist will assist with developing new interactive web maps, as well as updating and maintaining existing maps and tools.

Tasks include:
- Rework existing live maps built in CARTO.js from CARTO.js v3 to CARTO.js v4
- Update and maintain current live maps
- Develop new internal and public facing maps, add new interactive features, new data visualizations
- Work with our back end developers on website design, updates, and implementation of new projects onto our website
Required skills and experience:
- Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python
- Experience working with spatial data or web mapping
- Experience working with APIs and interactive data visualization
- Experience and interest in creating well designed, creative, and interactive maps
Preferred skills and experience:
- Experience with Carto, Leaflet, Mapbox or other web mapping platforms
- Experience with ArcGIS or QGIS
