Job Title

Company

NYU

Location

New York

Description

NYU’s interdisciplinary Information Law Institute and Center for Cybersecurity are accepting applications for a joint research fellowship to begin in Summer or Fall 2019.  Fellows will devote most of their time to research on projects of mutual interest. Research collaboration with ILI and CCS faculty at the Law School and at the Tandon School of Engineering and with other postdoctoral fellows is encouraged.  Fellows will also assist with projects and events of mutual interest to the fellow and the two centers.  Teaching may be an option, depending on availability and interest. The initial fellowship term is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

A successful applicant must hold a doctoral degree in a field that is relevant to the study of legal, policy and technical issues in cybersecurity and must demonstrate enthusiasm and promise for interdisciplinary engagement.  We will consider applicants with PhDs in technical or non-technical disciplines, including law, though preference will be given to applicants with some relevant technical background.

Fellows are expected to reside in the New York area, participate in ILI  and CCS activities, attend weekly meetings of ILI’s multidisciplinary Privacy Research Group, and participate in weekly meetings with the ILI Fellows group. They will also have ample opportunity to take part in other aspects of the lively intellectual life of the university and New York City.

Applications (by email) and inquiries should be addressed to ILI administrator Nicole Arzt, nicole.arzt@nyu.edu, and should include: a CV, copies of 2 relevant publications or writing samples, a transcript of graduate work (unofficial is acceptable), the names and contact information of three references, and a cover letter summarizing the candidate’s relevant background and accomplishments and outlining his or her perceived fit with the fellowship.  We will review applications on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
