When it comes to design and development, we believe in an unmatched focus on providing excellent service to our clients. This is the engine behind all decision-making and drives our product and service decisions.

The visual designer will be responsible for a variety of in-house digital creative efforts, and in some cases will work closely with outside agency resources. Collaborating with the UX lead, software developers, and the marketing team, the visual designer will focus on creating the visual look and feel of 1) web applications for our clients and 2) web applications to support our internal users.

What you’ll do

  • Create visually engaging, innovative and functional web and mobile products utilizing responsive design methodologies
  • Work closely with User Experience lead to bring Platinum's vision and concepts to life
  • Document visual styles across the company, which may be shared via a style guide or design system
  • Make ongoing front-end improvements to desktop and mobile responsive sites for user experience, browser compatibility, and site optimization
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and welcome an agile, team approach
  • Generate concepts and designs from ideation to production-ready assets
  • Work collaboratively with other designers to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and user experience
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team that includes engineers and product managers in order to create simple, easy-to-use software
  • Translate client business requirements, user needs, technical requirements into designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest standards, changes, trends in the visual design field
  • Use storyboards when needed to tell visual stories that support learning

Qualifications

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience in designing web applications, grid systems, editorial layouts and applications for web, desktop and mobile
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in the graphic design field
  • Outstanding visual design skills and ability to think strategically and execute autonomously
  • Proven hands-on experience and a high level of proficiency with Sketch
  • Experience with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools
  • Experience designing innovative transitions, animations, and dynamic interactions
  • Comfort iterating upon a design in a cross-team environment
  • Commitment to developing user-centered design, following Web standards, usability, accessibility, and clean code
  • Ability to create standards-based cross-browser compatible designs in HTML/CSS
  • Interest in self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast evolving environment
  • Proven ability delivering high-quality designs to customers
  • Portfolio of visual design and development projects required

Desired qualifications

  • Experience with horses, and/or passion for animals
  • Experience with health, wellness and/or clinical research software
  • Experience with JavaScript or CSS animations
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Magento Enterprise
  • Experience designing marketing emails
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Ability to plan and organize while also working strategically and creatively
  • Eagerness to learn new technology
  • A great teammate with a willing, positive attitude
  • Startup experience
  • Attention to detail
