Stephen Muchovej

Data Scientist turned Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), passionate about extracting actionable insights from Big Data analysis. With over 10 years of experience in industry and academia, I am keen problem-solver, capable of researching and mastering the tools needed to accomplish the broader goals of projects.

After earning my PhD in Astrophycis from Columbia University, I joined the Caltech faculty as an NSF Fellow before joining their research faculty. I transitioned into industry when I wanted to have more impact on people's lives, and joined Quottly, an ed-tech startup as technical employee number 1. In 3 years we brought Quottly from an MVP to a Winner of the SXSWEdu Launch competition. After my tenure at quottly, I gained Big Data experience in AdTech before joining Zoom during the pandemic, leading an AI/ML team of engineers. I'm currently back at a startup (trying to have bigger impact) that focuses on using AI to increase the efficiency of Operating Rooms in hospital.
