Biography

Vilena is an AI data scientist working in the fintech space for a leading U.S. financial services company where she applies AI/ML solutions to a multitude of business use cases.  She has experience building AI/ML products in domains such as (customer) risk, NLP, and Cybersecurity.  In her career in technology, Vilena has worked as a software engineer, a machine learning engineer, and is currently continuing to work as an AI data scientist.     

Vilena is a PhD Candidate in Speech Science at the City University of New York where she focuses on researching the movement of speech articulators with imaging technology; she, also, holds an M.S. in Data Science and an M.A. in Linguistics & Cognitive Science from the University of Delaware.  In addition, Vilena received an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Concordia University (Canada).

Lastly, to keep it interesting, Vilena has received training in anatomical sciences from various medical schools in the U.S.  It is safe to say that she is an avid life-long learner herself and loves sharing her knowledge with others as she has taught in various universities across the U.S. as well as in Canada.
