Track 1: Moving People and Prices

Edward De Guzman
Autodesk

Edward De Guzman is a user research manager at Autodesk in San Francisco. He manages a team of user researchers in the cloud platforms group, studying how architects, engineers, and designers collaborate and the role that cloud and mobile technology play in facilitating collaboration among project team members. Before joining Autodesk, he was a user researcher at salesforce.com. As a graduate student, Edward published work in the areas of tangible computing, ambient/peripheral displays, and context-aware mobile computing. He holds an M.S. in computer science from the UC Berkeley.

Anna Lewandowski
SAP

Anna Lewandowski is a user experience designer for mobile, desktop, and web applications, as well as multi-touch walls and head-mounted displays, who is passionate about design and has a broad background in information sciences. She is currently a senior user experience designer at SAP Labs LLC, where she designs consumer and enterprise applications for the sports, fashion, and health industries.

Ángel Rodríguez
Google
MIMS 2012

Ángel Rodríguez is a technical program manager for the infrastructure and analytics programs of Google Maps. He is based out of the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. Prior to working for Google, Ángel was the ground segment lead for the E-USOC — a group in Madrid, Spain, that by delegation of the European Space Agency plans and executes scientific missions to take place on the International Space Station. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in computer science from the University of La Laguna, Spain. In 2009 he was awarded a “la Caixa” scholarship to pursue a master’s in information management and systems at UC Berkeley. He currently resides in San Francisco.


Track 2: Information Search, Navigation, Visualization, and Discovery

Philipp Gutheim
MIMS 2012

Philipp is an entrepreneur, ex-Googler, and Forbes Magazine “30 under 30” award recipient. Prior to Google, he co-founded LeadGenius, a venture-backed SaaS startup that helps businesses to find potential customers in a more cost-effective and hassle-free manner. He holds master’s degrees in computer science and information management and systems from UC Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in business.

Ashit Jain
BNY Mellon

Ashit Jain is the director of Data Science at BNY Mellon’s Innovation Center, where he is responsible for machine learning, data engineering, analytics, and visualization teams. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Jain worked in leading Silicon Valley companies like eBay, Google ,and Salesforce, leading major initiatives and teams in search, site speed, and re-platforming on large-scale distributed systems. He is passionate about data-driven innovation.

Jenn Stringer
Educational Technology Services, UC Berkeley
Jenn Stringer is the associate CIO for academic engagement and the director of Educational Technology Services at UC Berkeley, where she is responsible for the strategic direction of academic computing on the campus and for services that support classroom technologies and video capture and production, faculty instructional technology support, the campus LMS and student portal, and student computing. Prior to Berkeley, she was director for academic technology services at New York University and director of educational technology at Stanford University School of Medicine. She has worked in libraries and the educational research arena since 1989, including managing educational technology grants supporting medical education and has designed unique learning spaces that support collaborative teaching and learning activities. She has a B.A. with honors in history from University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master’s in library and information science from San Jose State University.


Track 3: Networking to Help

Dhawal Mujumdar
Founder, AdsNative
MIMS 2011

Dhawal Mujumdar is an I School alumnus who co-founded AdsNative after graduating in 2011. AdsNative an ad platform that hopes to simplify digital advertising by making ads unobtrusive and uninterruptive. Dhawal was previously a guest lecturer at UC Berkeley.

Christen Penny
Workday
MIMS 2012

Christen Penny is a product and service design researcher at Workday. Christen applies her deep knowledge of user experience, and her extensive background in quality assurance and tech support, to discover and illuminate the needs and goals of users.  A graduate of the I School, Christen also leads and instructs design thinking workshops, organizes events for the larger UX community, and is an expert in herding cats both figuratively and literally.

Robert Stewart
Castlight Health

Robert Stewart has been the chief architect at Castlight Health since May 2011. Before Castlight, Robert was a lead architect at Voxify and a consulting member of technical staff at Avaya and Lucent Bell Labs. He has extensive experience designing, developing and deploying hosted healthcare, predictive analytics and speech recognition applications. Robert has spoken at MongoDB San Francisco, MongoDB SV, and NoSQL Now. He has also served as a volunteer software developer for OpenOakland, a civic innovation organization bringing together coders, designers, data geeks, journalists, and city staff to collaborate on solutions to improve how local government serves the citizens of Oakland.
