Sidewaukee: Making our city accessible
Team Sidewaukee is improving sidewalk accessibility for an estimated 15 million wheelchair and mobility-challenged users in the US, by leveraging public streetview images, government GIS data, and Sidewaukee-crowdsourced reports, to derive information about sidewalks, curb ramps, elevation changes, and temporal features. We integrate deep learning, interactive data visualization, and rigorous user feedback for our MVP -- enabling mobility-challenged users to unlock precise insights for safer and predictable travel in their communities; the Sidewaukee beta mobile web app is now live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
