Wine and Wildfires: An exploration of wildfire trends, air quality, and grape production in California

Our team chose this topic in light of the devastating 2020 wildfire season in California and the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Because wildfires struck right before and during the August-October harvest season, many vineyards were left with smoke-tainted grapes that were unusable for wine production. Our goal is to create insights for vinters and wine enthusiasts who seek to analyze trends in wildfires, air quality and grape production throughout the past decade.
